ctalley's Hip Hop Honors Pt. 1
So VH1's Hip Hop Honors aired last night and I didn't realize that this was the 5th year anniversary for the show. Man, I remember when VH1 only showed Celine Dion videos...then one day, they started airing Flavor of Love and it all went down hill from there. But I must give VH1 props for evolving with the times and pop culture. Hip Hop is Pop Culture, no matter how much we don't want to admit it. I am sure some of us miss the days when Hip Hop was underground and too gritty & grimey for the mainstream.
But it's great that VH1 supports & celebrates great artists in Hip Hop. My friend and I was just talking about the line up of honorees for 2008 and we weren't very impressed. Well besides the obvious, Slick Rick, De La... Though there are some Honorees from the past and even 2008 that I may not agree with; this video blog is Part 1 of those honorees that I think definitely deserved the honor.
So you know I rep the BX hard (even though there isn't really much here, but a place to rest) , BUT this is where Hip Hop began, regardless of the naysayers from Queens always hating("Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it, Bronx keeps on creatingit and Queens keeps on faking it!") ...lol
